The role as a student life assistant at ACU is a diverse and social position that allows me to to continue my development in creative marketing tasks as well as increasing my engagement with the University community. As a student life assistant I have a range of roles including, development of posters to notify students of the events on at the University that week, completing risk assessments for the event, helping in develop ideas for what activities or functions should be carried out and finally as an event coordinator on the day, assisting in running the set up and down of the event as well as with the main function.

My main area of skill is in the gaming and TAB locations. Being a gaming attendant means that I am responsible for serving customers at gambling machines, fixing machine errors, handing out and making food and snacks and dealing with manual pay outs for customers all while keeping the area clean and tidy for members and guests.

When it comes to practical skills, the RSL has provided me with extensive training in a range of areas. I have experience working in bistro areas where I deliver food and clear away used plates to provide a comfortable dining experience. I also work in a café area where we deliver cakes, make coffee of all types, take orders while keeping the area clean by clearing and washing plates. The bar is another location that I spend a large amount of time working at, I have my RSA and am trained in pouring beer as well as making mixed drinks and cocktails.

I have learnt a range of skills from my work at McDonalds such as maintaining highstandards of customer service during high pressure, fast-paced operations. I can communicate clearly and positively with co-workers and management. I handled cash and credit transactions quickly and accurately as well as followed procedures for safe food preparation, assembly, and presentation. I also assisted management with inventory control and stock ordering while building loyal clientele through friendly interactions and consistent appreciation. I was also cross-trained and coordinated scheduling with team members to ensure seamless service meaning i took the initiative to find extra tasks when scheduled duties were completed.
