Felicity Williams is a writer, creative director, and a composer and lyricist of multi-award winning children’s television.She believes that imaginative games are the catalyst for the intellectual and emotional growth of children and to this end, she develops and participates extensively in children’s play patterns at her school, Canvas Bag Drama School in Christchurch, New Zealand.The children who take part in this dynamic arts rich education provide the talent base for her media companies and the school also has a pivotal role in workshopping, trialling and evaluating new projects within these genres at the pre-production phase. She considers her work with children to be a privileged joyful interplay, and by assuming various personae, the mermaid queen, the magic chameleon, to name just a few, she enables children through dramatic play to move effortlessly between a real world and an imagined one. Felicity was musical composer, lyricist and Director of Child Performance for “The Dress-Up Box”. Reviewed as “visually brilliant”, this series has been on screen in New Zealand since 1999 and has become a much adored children’s favourite in that country, winning rafts of awards. Felicity has an Honours Degree in Composition from the University of Canterbury.Specialties: Specialist educator in children's dramatic play patterns, children's music composition, and participatory storytelling.
