● Review and recommend changes to striping, pavement markings, signage, and parking to facilitate safe efficient traffic flow for new proposed development projects● Review public improvement plans, to ensure they comply with current City standards● Coordinate with developers/customers to modify their proposal to meet applicable standards● Represent the City/Department at public hearings and staff meetings● Review and issue over the counter traffic control permits

● Receive and respond to requests for information and concerns from citizens● Prepare designs for pavement marking, traffic sign and traffic striping following City of San Diego standards, Caltrans Standard Plans, MUTCD and AASHTO. ● Responsible for monitoring and troubleshooting approximately 800 traffic signals within the City of San Diego.● Knowledge of traffic signal programs 200, 223 and 233 along with Model 170 Controller.● Responsible for updating traffic signal timing sheets, including collecting field measurements and implementing the new timing in the field or through QuicNet.● Create cost estimates for traffic signal modifications and street lights.● Evaluate for street light installation following City of San Diego codes, plot approved street lights locations in ArcGIS. ● Responsible for maintaining city databases of approved street light locations.● Coordinate construction activities with other City Departments and SDG&E for the installation of new street lights.
