PhD student at University of Aveiro. Mainly interested in Aquaculture, with experience with fish reproduction, consulting and fish parasitology. During the experience with small scale fish farmers, I became aware of the increasing price of Fish Meal , which can represent up to 80% of the production cost of farmed fish. This issue led me to my interest in Insects to be used as aquafeed. Now in my PhD I'm currently exploring the potential of native insect species to be used as ingredients for aquafeed, focused on the presence of Essential Fatty Acids for farmed fish. Improving the production of small scale fish farms has always been my main motivation to work on this field, which thanks to my father I had contacted since I was a child.
