The main objective of the project was to decrease… Show more - Conceptualisation, preparation, execution, justification and dissemination of a R&D project presented and awarded to the Torres Quevedo postdoctoral program from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation to develop, attract and retain talent.- The project was focused on developing a new strategic line in the company related to the biological purification of biogas valorising the digestate centrate stream from anaerobic digestion. The main objective of the project was to decrease OPEX in activated carbon and ferric salts consumption in the WWTP to purify H2S, and to decrease maintenance operations of CHP engines. In addition, the project aimed to be the starting point to carry out at medium term biogas upgrading to biomethane, as well as diversify biogas/biomethane valorisation into other biofuel or chemicals by thermocatalytic technologies, in which previous abatement of H2S and siloxanes is required.- Results have been successfull, and besides being currently optimised, several R&D projects are being started earlier than expected focusing on both biogas upgrading and methanol production from its CO2 content.
