During my 27 years of incarceration, I developed skills in restorative justice (RJ), peacebuilding, and community organizing. I’m cofounder of Let’s Circle Up, an RJ education project, and author of Justice from the Inside Up: A Restorative Justice Education Facilitator’s Manual. After narrowly escaping death by incarceration via governor clemency in July 2022, I now manage a youth RJ diversion program Healing Futures and teach RJ at Chestnut Hill College. An unapologetic abolitionist, I work with a wide movement family in Philly and beyond to build a world where no human being is caged. But my proudest title is Jubilee’s dad. My miracle baby broke into the world July 2024, a week shy of my 2-year freedom anniversary, and is teaching me a love unlike any I’ve known.
