Wood Engineer who excels at sustainably commercializing ideas and scaling processes from resource to end product. As Founder and CEO of ChopValue I am responsible for a global network of decentralized Microfactories on our mission to make a circular economy the norm: Our parent brand MVP (Microfactory Venture Platform) aims to expand our responsibility of turning 'waste to resource' to different material streams in our urban and industrial environments. My previous and ongoing work has involved a number of engineering design -and research led initiatives with MIT, Cambridge, UBC and FP Innovations including the adaption of results on nomenclature and processing standards in the bamboo industry and scientific knowledge transfer journals. I created content for multiple books, such as in "Cultivated Building Materials" on the Industrialization of processes for bamboo. Recently published work serves as guide to develop a generation of sustainable business owners in more than 40 INBAR member countries, as well as referred to as 'blueprint for the future of manufacturing' by the World Economic Forum. For more than 10 years, I have lead teams in the natural fibre and material performance industry to develop new products and processes. Since founding CrossLink Technologies in 2014, I found ways of a more multidisciplinary approach between industry and academia working on wood -and bamboo process/composite technologies. My personal motivation is to develop products that lead to new business ideas and opportunities in rapidly growing economies. Sustainable and resource efficient thinking in developed and rapidly developing countries are the foundation of my work. Being someone who wants to see his ideas come to fruition, I founded ChopValue Manufacturing Ltd. in 2016 as practical example to inspire, and as proof of concept for a viable circular economy: entirely based on under-utilized resources. We called it 'urban harvesting'. 150,000,000 chopsticks later, we decided to expand our microfactory concept globally and are excited to franchise our technology, brand and vision to other communities.
