Eight weeks on the £700m Olympia London Redevelopment project, working in the Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health (MEP) team under the mentorship of a senior project manager. Involved in several areas and stages of the project, including:- Familiarisation: reviewed specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.- Pre-commencement: developed technical submissions; procured suppliers and subcontractors; and utilised Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA).- Installation: coordinated programmes, scheduled deliveries, and reviewed risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).- Problem-solving: used digital engineering tools (BIM) to resolve spatial coordination issues; attended site walks to collect information and analyse progress; and communicated with consultants.

A comprehensive eight-week summer placement in the design engineering team at Metropolitan UK, a leading operator of low-carbon district energy networks.Work and successes included:- Modelling of heat losses from secondary pipework in multi-residential buildings- Supporting commissioning of combined heat and power (CHP) engines- Assessing networks under adoption for compliance with industry standards and best practices- Visiting energy centres and heat substations as part of site safety audits- Specification of water softening and reverse osmosis plant for makeup water systems
