I joined the administration team of the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) as their intern, co-managing the library with my colleague whilst assisting the general day-to-day operation of the festival. I have participated as a player with Hong Kong Music Summer Orchestra, a sub-orchestra created for the 25th anniversary concert of AYO. I was asked specifically to oversee the parts for potential page-turn issues (thus creating page extensions if needed), double checking that the markings in the parts were aligned with the conductor’s score, and adding bar numbers where necessary, to ensure a smooth and efficient rehearsal process, and limiting the number of hands raised in the rehearsal.
