Dr. Pan is a basic science researcher who has trained in biochemistry and molecular biology, cancer biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. His study has a focus on identifying and characterizing the biological mechanisms of cancer stem cells from an epigenetic perspective through which the mechanistic and biological relevance of many genetic/epigenetic regulators will be unraveled and connected. His long-term goal is to leverage novel high-throughput genome techniques to link abnormal epigenome to disease to build new, tailored therapies and diagnostic tools for disease.- 10 years of experience in biomedical research, focusing on mapping and targeting genetics & epigenetics vulnerabilities in cancer.- Hands-on experience with a variety of cellular and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, Western blotting, and flow cytometry.- Proficient in the use of in vitro and in vivo models, to facilitate cancer biomarker discovery and evaluate the preclinical efficacy of inhibitors and PROTAC degrader in cancer models.- Utilize a broad range of classical and modern techniques to address biomedical questions, such as next-generation sequencing (Hi-C, Micro-C, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN), long read sequencing (Nanopore), and CRISPR/Cas-based genome editing etc.- Demonstrated expertise in statistical programming in R and Bioconductor, bioinformatics database (NCBI, Ensembl and UCSC genome browser), and bioinformatics analysis tools (Bowtie, STAR, MACS, etc.).
