I lead a program of epidemiological research that informs strategies which are improving urban health. My research has enabled councils with a public health/social licence to plan and implement urban greening strategies (e.g. Greening Sydney 2030). I train the next generation of epidemiologists though teaching university courses and by coaching PhD students and early career researchers in the PowerLab, which I co-founded in 2016.My work aims to reduce health inequities by improving the availability of health promoting resources and healthcare, though a process of co-production with clinicians, urban planners and partners in public, private and third sector organisations. I have been an active member of the Western Sydney Diabetes Leadership Alliance since it began in 2013. I am dedicated to empowering young and diverse communities of scientists across Australia and beyond though my work as a Chair of EDI at UNSW Faculty Medicine and Health and education committee Co-Chair for the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology. I am passionate about increasing diversity and fairness in future higher education and I was an elected member of the UNSW Academic Board.Please connect with me if what I do is of interest and/or opportunities to collaborate.
