I've been working as a programmer/analyst in PLM & other engineering & manufacturing systems for a manufacturing company for many years now. I've worked on many systems using many languages. I'm now leveraging that experience to fill more strategic needs in system design, technical leadership, architecture and enterprise architecture. At the moment, I'm working replacing our legacy document delivery system, which is the master source for production and customer drawings both inside and outside the company, with a new system. Lots of interesting challenges in this multi-million dollar project, but the technology solution is based on Windchill, ThingWorx, and MuleSoft's Anypoint Platform. Some recent projects include: I built a prototype and then lead a team that delivered an optical character recognition (OCR) and computer vision project that captured key engineering information from our CAD drawings. This innovative project leveraged python, jupyter notebooks and an OCR engine and OpenCV. Through these tools we can leverage machine learning, without the heavy lifting. I've also been leading a project to unlock the transactional data from engineering systems (ex PLM, BOM, environmental compliance) for analytics. After the ETL work we are expecting the usual reports and KPI dashboards will be unavoidable. But, this is also the foundation we need to advance the analytics program to begin to leverage diagnostic visualizations in tools like Tableau. We expect to build some more complex predictive and prescriptive models to help refine the product engineering process and material use. Some of this professional work spawned from the groundwork I had done at Penn State and in some personal analytics projects.Specialties: Enterprise Java, System Integration, Oracle, Enterprise Architecture, Data AnalyticsOther Interests: Big Data, Cloud Technologies, Amazon Web Services, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Tableau, Containers, Microservices, IoT, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Python, Data Science.
