IDEALondon is a post-incubator space in the heart of Tech City, Shoreditch, supported by University College London and Cisco.I oversee the programmes of engagement on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, ensuring that our teaching and research is connected to the start up ecosystem.My key responsibilities are:• Developing an Entrepreneurial Programme, bringing UCL staff and students to work alongside resident innovators in IDEALondon, encompassing activities to support business growth, technology development and ideas exchange.• Managing collaborative projects between UCL staff and students, and entrepreneurial businesses, from providing introductions and networking opportunities, through to project management and administration, and reporting as part of the ERDF funded CASTS project.• Managing operations, including developing and holding a budget of £750,000, leading on recruitment and team development, overseeing site refurbishment and development, ensuring compliance with H&S regulations and the terms of the lease.• Leading on strategy and delivery for the faculty, including production of and reporting against the Business Case; creation and implementation of governance structures; piloting, reviewing and iterating activities; identifying the key technologies, innovators and sponsors to engage with.• Managing relationships with corporate (Cisco, EDF, Vodafone) and innovator (Startup Bootcamp, Capital Enterprise) partners, from initial contact, through contract negotiations, to collaborative project and programme management.

I am part of a structure of support for enterprise activities within UCL, allowing staff and students to realise the potential of their ideas easily and effectively. I lead enterprise activity within the faculties, developing and implementing departmental strategies to support teaching, research and knowledge transfer through enterprise and innovation for societal and economic benefit.This varied and exciting role includes business development, change management, client relations, corporate strategy, internal communications and governance and market analysis, as well as constant access to some of the brightest minds and most innovative ideas in UK research.I have supported projects covering whole sectors (Construction, Nuclear Energy, Agriculture, Healthcare, Finance & Insurance), novel technology (Internet of Things, Nanomaterials, FinTech) and established research (Satellites, Gas sensors, Risk Modelling).

I represent the HE sector, on the CE Board. Capital Enterprise support start ups, SMEs and small businesses in London, with a particular focus on the tech sector and BAME communities.

A secondment from BBSRC, to work on the development of the Science and Engineering Profession and the role of evidence in policy. Industrial Biotechnology (IB) is the use of biological resources for producing and processing energy, materials and chemicals. My role was to ensure that the funding landscape supports research in IB, and encourages its translation and development by industry. I worked closely with the academic community, learned societies, trade bodies and other funders to develop an understanding of the needs, challenges and opportunities faced by relevant stakeholders, and apply this knowledge to working with colleagues in the development of appropriate and effective funding mechanisms. I worked with a colleague to advise senior management and the Board of Trustees on the feasibility of opening a new office. We analysed referral data to predict demand and revenue, contact local community groups to discuss sharing services, investigated publicity opportunities and research methods to further engage and support families.Key Skills: Market analysis, Project Management

I worked as a telephone fundraiser in my first year of university, and was asked to apply to be a senior caller in my second, due to my enthusiasm and good humour. As a senior caller I shared responsibility for interviewing, selecting, training and managing a team of 60 callers; the campaign raised over its £100, 000 target, and over half of the callers returned the following year.
