- Lead a dynamic section of engineering specialists and subject matter experts responsible for high voltage testing and electrical insulation material sciences within Manitoba Hydro’s 550 kV-class facility, overseeing the High Voltage Laboratory Testing Program.- Responsible for effective performance management, succession planning, workload forecasting, business planning, and supervision to provide high voltage testing and engineering services to customers internal and external to the corporation.- Contribute to the development of the department's strategic business plan, capital and O&M budgetary estimates, promoting innovation in both test methods and service delivery.- Oversee development and refinement of new or existing laboratory testing capabilities and represent Manitoba Hydro on external technical committees responsible for codes and standards.Technical Experience Include: - Primary Test Engineer in the high voltage laboratory; responsible for defining, developing, and leading high voltage tests within Manitoba Hydro's High Voltage Test Facility (HVTF).- Perform, lead and oversee diagnostic, acceptance, and re-qualification high voltage tests on a wide variety of apparatus including HVDC apparatus, instrument transformers, bushings, transmission line hardware, aerial devices, reactors, and large power transformers. - Recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in high voltage apparatus. Maintain extensive knowledge in high voltage design, technical standards, specifications, and international standards such as IEEE, CSA, and IEC. This includes providing consulting services to internal design, maintenance and asset management groups.- Support an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 quality management program through development and maintenance of technical work instructions and standard operating procedures required for accreditation.

Maintain extensive knowledge in high voltage apparatus, technical standards, specifications, and international standards such as IEEE, CSA, and IEC. This includes providing consulting services to internal design, maintenance and asset management groups within Manitoba Hydro; as well as external customers.- Provide functional supervision for the operations and maintenance of the MH HVTF lab and its associated equipment and assets. This involves providing management and technical support for the department’s engineering technicians responsible for the building and laboratory operations. - Support an accredited ISO/IEC 17025 quality management program through development and maintenance of technical work instructions and standard operating procedures required for accreditation.

Transmission Line Design

Six months rotations in: Transmission Line Design, Dorsey Converter Station, Project Management, and System PerformanceTransmission Projects Department- Aided the project management team in the performance of capital projects in aspects related to projects’ scope, schedule, budget, resources, risk and procurement.- Familiar with Manitoba Hydro’s capital projects procedures and processes.- Communicated effectively with various project’s stakeholders and chaired cross-departmental meetings to facilitate discussions between project participants, while maintaining ethical and quality standards as well as professional demeanor.HVDC Department- Applied upgrades to the GE Fanuc Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) software for the Bipole I Well-to-Well Cooling (WWGC) system.- Designed and validated user-friendly HMIs that were used by colleagues at the maintenance, operations, and mechanical engineering departments.Transmission Line Design Department - Performed a life-cycle cost analysis on triple vs. quad bundle configurations for the 500 kV MMTP Transmission Line.- Conducted research on electro-static and magneto-static fields induced by transmission lines on vehicles and linear infrastructure to ensure that the fields’ effect values met the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) limits.

- Responsible for designing transformers, supervising their manufacturing process, and testing procedures. These processes were done while simultaneously ensuring the correct application of subassemblies such as tap changers, reactors, and auxiliary transformers.- Explicitly designed transformers for cost minimization within established design parameters, standards and performance characteristics, while maintaining aggressive target dates. - Maintained complete process ownership from design through to production on 15+ projects, including: 60 MVA mobiles, 1050 BIL Wind Power application, 335 MVA Solar application, Dual Zig-Zag transformer and 300 MVA Auto Transformers.
