I worked as a Technical Adviser for Commerce and Trade to support and promote bilateral trade relations between Finland and the Philippines.During my engagement with the Consulate, I was involved in the development and implementation of key strategies to promote Finnish exports to the Philippines and Philippine exports to Finland to foster economic growth and market expansion. The role is to review policies that may impact the trade between the two countries. I also conduct market research for potential business opportunities and bridge communications between businesmen and stakeholders. My works span from the development of economic models and statistical models for forecasting and trend analysis to the business development and industry analysis. I lead the assessment of the economic, environment and geographic characteristics of communities in order to provide strong and strategic policy recommendations and plans that drives true economic growth. I also lead several high profile focus group discussions and key informant interviews with business owners and industry economic drivers in the different areas in the Philippines as well as discuss issues with local, national and international partners for project proposals and recommendations.

Disruptive Technologies for Development (TD4D) project aims to address this gap by identifying and piloting targeted disruptive technology solutions. For Mindanao, TD4D project aims to provide large cavendish banana companies from Philippine Banana Growers and Exporters Association technologies such as the use of Dashboard with the capacity to facilitate satellite imagery, social risk assessment and analyze data that can help in the strategic decision making of the industry. The satellite images are generated though the European Space Agency and an algorithm is developed to process these images into comparative data of the level of green spectrum to detect diseases and social risk assessment functionalities through Ulula. The system can integrate these information into one platform through the use of the latest technologies in data anlytics.

The work involves the development of five business models involving fruit and vegetable juice, coconut sugar, IQF technology for banana Cardava, inland fishpond for milkfish and hydroponic greenhouse vegetable farming industries. Financial analysis was performed to determine viability of the project in the time of the pandemic and that a clear-cut supply chain and infrastructure support is added to ensure continuous growth in the value chain of these products-from farm to market.

Our activity includes also periodic auditing of the internal business process, financials and inventory processes and procedures.
