The service solved a number of problems for consumers including trust, convenience, time and value for money.Open created a new innovative business model when it was founded in 2001 as it pioneered the Worksite Marketing distribution channel. The Company piggybacked on two rapidly emerging trends and technologies at that time; the provision of voluntary benefits by HR professionals of Ireland's leading employers and the proliferation of Corporate Intranets.In 2008 Open agreed a trade sale with one of Ireland's largest financial services firms which included an earn-out clause. The deal was concluded in April 2014.

Spearpoint was a high-potential tech start-up targeting European mobile operators with a range of value-added services. The value proposition was to enable operators to offer personal financial services to their subscriber base and so increase average revenue per user (ARPU). Spearpoint was funded by a well-known serial entrepreneur & business angel. It ceased operations following the dot com collapse due to lack of VC funding.
