I'm currently studying biological sciences at the University of Liverpool looking to lead into a career in Life Sciences with an interest in mycology, conservation and animal behaviour. I have previous experience in field work from my time spent monitoring and cataloguing wildlife populations in the Canadian Yukon with the British Exploring Society (BES) for 5 weeks; I was lucky enough to be voted an ambassador for my expedition by my fellow Team members and Group Leaders. In this role, I went on to represent the Society at Buckingham Palace and the Royal Geographical Society. Additionally, I am experienced in a Laboratory environment having organised a tour for Biology students on my A level course to a medicine testing laboratory. We saw studies looking at the toxicology in mice of a treatment for sickle cell anaemia and the pathological effects of industrial chemicals on rabbit foetuses. I have also spent time working in a veterinary pathology laboratory. It was fascinating to see how the Biology we are taught can be part of our everyday lives as well as seeing how a small private business is run.
