I developed and presented a module for Turkish spellchecking, which is difficult to do because the language is based on amalgamations and dictionary-based spell checking is not an option. I presented the spellchecker in Blackboardb World Europe ’08 in Manchester, UK conference.I was also in charge of installation, configuration, maintenance and administration of some utility programs like Jira, Confluence and Mantis all running on Debian GNU/Linux via Apache/Tomcat web servers and MySQL databases.Experiences and Major Achievements:• ASP (VBScript) was converted to ASP.NET (C#).• MS SQL Server 2000 backend was migrated to SQL Server 2005 with T-SQL.• NHibernate for entity persistence and mapping was introduced.• Integration of ActiveX based ektron web editor for instructors.• Integration of course registration process to the student registrar. The company’s business model was about getting metadata of stock images from the partners and selling to marketing and advertising agencies.The challenge was that metadata was not standardized and sometimes info had to be scrapped from search results. After this improvements, Dijitalimaj became one of the most selling stock imagery web sites in Turkey; with 10X increase in revenue. The number of partners increased from 5 to 120 in 3 years.Activities and Major Achievements:• Installation and administration of Debian GNU/Linux servers.• Designing, coding and maintaining the company web site running PHP on Apache server with a backend of MySQL and PostgreSQL.
