Staff Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit has the following job descriptions from this Institution.1. Responsible for high quality patient care, including comprehensive assessments, medication and treatment administrations, and prompt execution of physician’s orders.2. Has expertise in recognizing clinical complications with the patient, reports pertinent observations or complaints to the physician and or Head Nurse.3. Capable of operating all technological equipment and monitoring devices utilized in the unit, practices economical use of equipment and medical supplies, also informs proper authority of discrepancies with functionality.4. Maintains the accuracy, completeness and confidentiality of the patient’s clinical records; outlines nurse’s notes according to audit committee standards.5. Performs emergency nursing procedures necessary for prompt control of changes in patient’s physical condition.6. Guides personnel in evaluating patient’s needs based on actual and comprehensive assessments.7. Provides proper health education through giving instructions and health teachings to patients and significant others, thereby promoting health and wellness and preventing disease occurrence.8. Exhibits required critical judgment and decision-making skills based upon the application of scientific knowledge and standard theories and are guided by the established philosophies and policies of the organization and the unit.9. Keeps abreast of changing techniques in critical care nursing and maintains a high level of competency in the area.10. Serves as a patient advocate, ensuring the observance of Patient’s Bill of Rights. 11. Participates in team conferences and provides leadership in the interpretation and application of the philosophy and objectives of nursing service in the designated area.
