I am an Oceanographer with a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences interested in the resilience and sustainability of social-ecological systems. I have work experience in inter/transdisciplinary research, teaching and outreach at the national and international levels. I have carried out research on the implementation of environmental policies (Climate Adaptation, Integrated Coastal Zone Management, Marine Spatial Planning and Marine Protected Areas); Climate change predictions and adaptation solutions reviews; Traditional/local ecological knowledge (TEK-LEK) assessments; Stakeholders engagement and participatory planning, among other interlinked topics. I have sought to integrate stakeholders’ knowledge with scientific evidence to contribute to the preparation of environmental policies and planning solutions. I worked for five years in the governmental sector, where I acquired a comprehensive knowledge of the synergies and challenges within environmental, social and political contexts, as well as on stakeholders’ negotiation and concertation practices. As part of my research activities, I have produced science communication materials, such as booklets, videos and documentaries, animations, photo exhibitions, augmented/virtual reality (AR/VR) applications and storymaps websites to convey scientific information effectively.
