About Fernanda Guedes
As a Brazilian Chemical Engineer with both a Master’s and a PhD in Energy Planning from the Energy Planning Program in the Graduate School of Engineering of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (COPPE/UFRJ), I bring over 10 years of experience in the energy and climate sectors. My career commenced with consulting roles for leading international organizations such as UN Environment, World Bank, Ministry of Mines and Energy of Peru and for the Brazilian Ministry of Finance. Additionally, I spent nearly a year and a half as a Prospective Modelling Engineer at IFP Energies Nouvelles in France, engaging in multiple projects across the renewable energy, climate, and transportation sectors.From 2020 to 2022, I worked for the Brazil Energy Program (BEP) at Adam Smith International, a global consultancy. This program, funded by the UK Prosperity Fund, aimed to accelerate growth in renewable and clean energy technologies by providing technical assistance and fund management to both the Brazilian government and the private sector. It was during this tenure that I began specializing in the wind sector, focusing particularly on offshore wind.After a five-month maternity leave, I embarked on a new career journey in November 2022 as New Technologies Specialist at ABEEólica - Brazilian Association of Wind Energy and New Technologies. In this role, I coordinate the carbon market area and support activities on topics related to green hydrogen, offshore wind, and RD&I.
