About Fernanda Rabelo
I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Technological University Dublin, developing research related to sustainable education for the tourism and hospitality sector at the Pantour project. My research explores sustainable skills, with curriculum and module design, education policy analysis, educational content and research reports development, with a particular focus on equality, diversity and inclusion in hospitality.I have 15+ years of experience working as a researcher and lecturer. My most recent research position was a research assistant at TU Dublin, in three different projects: the NTG Erasmus + Project, the Diversity and Intercultural Awareness and Inclusion (D&ICIH) project and the Sustainable Agenda for Gender Equality in Tourism and Hospitality. I also worked as a lecturer in different educational organisations in Brazil, as the manager of the Social Memory Centre from 2012-to 2015, and as the Director of Learning and Research from 2015 to 2016, respectively, in two different campuses at the Fluminense Institute of Technology. Currently, I am working as a Work Package leader in the Pantour project, an Erasmus + funded project, in partnership with 13 organisations from 10 European countries (2022-2026). In this project, I am responsible for developing multiple research outputs from Ireland and with partners, such as skills intelligence tools and reports, country-profile research on digital, green and social skills, an educational toolkit with the development of curriculum and programmes for future learners on sustainability, and equality, diversity and inclusion research focused on providing knowledge of skills needs and tools for SMEs in tourism and hospitality.At a policy level, my Work Package is responsible for developing a Skills Strategy and Action Plan for the European Tourism and Hospitality Sectors for 2026-2036, which will be an instrumental policy document guiding training and skilling activities in the European Union.
