I was brought on board as a consultant and then converted to a full-time employee to be the new SSIS SME for GameStop in an environment with easily over 100 SSIS packages. My main responsibilities are to deliver new SSIS solutions that are requested or necessary to implement to enhance the business, to make changes to existing SSIS processes that require new development due to changing business processes or production issues that can not be resolved without new development, and to provide my expertise in SSIS to other developers, assisting them with their packages when necessary. In addition, I act as a backup resource for SSRS development and issues.

At Uniform Advantage I am on the Business Intelligence team where we provide a combination of production support, SQL development for new systems, and providing the business with tools to make better business decisions. The biggest ongoing project we currently have is working to move from our current ERP to AX, which requires all of our current SQL code, jobs, processes, and reports to be rewritten to work similarly with the new ERP. Additionally, as a SQL Developer III, I provide assistance when necessary to less experienced developers to help in any development roadblocks.

At Centerra I am the senior point of contact for all database related issues, questions, and tasks. I work as a database specialist in a SQL Server environment with the responsibility of working on the development of new SQL projects as well as database administration. My sql development work consists of optimizing and creating new SSIS packages, stored procedures, SSRS reports, and systems to automate business processes. I also perform script reviews and SQL knowledge transfers to help others with SQL related tasks. My database administration duties include defining hardware/software configurations, procedures, best practices, maintenance plans, and security. Additionally I perform SQL Server service pack and version updates and upgrades for Centerra. SQL Dev to DBA work ratio is about 90% dev and 10% dba.

At AT&T I performed SQL Development in a large Teradata environment. I worked with two different teams. The first team was responsible for creating new tables/views for the MARS data warehouse to centralize customer data from many like databases into one place that can be used for all data needs. In this team I worked with metadata, data modeling, and DDL to create tables and views from many source databases. I also worked with the adhoc team to perform data mining, provide reports for the marketing team and help automate these requests when applicable. For the report team my main tasks were developing and implementing solutions to gather, process and present required reports, which rely heavily on aggregate data and excel, to end users with requested reports.

I started with Cendyn as a Contractor on a 6 month contract to hire basis and was made a fulltime employee due to my excellent performance. The scope of my work included development in 2005 and 2008 SQL Server environments using SSIS, stored procedures, triggers, and jobs to manipulate and route data between the different Cendyn systems in an environment with over 100 databases. This included learning and updating already existing packages as well as creating new packages to meet new requirements. Testing changes on dev and QA environments, optimizing queries, creating indexes, running custom reports for client requests not within the report parameters of the system, and improving business processes are additional duties I performed.

At gMed, my job responsibilities are to resolve, based on established SLAs, complex issues that Tier 1 and Tier 2 tech support are unable to solve in their allotted time frame and provide mentoring and knowledge transfer so that issues can be resolved before making it to Tier 3. Additionally, because of my skillset and contributions beyond what my job entails, I maintain and update my application as business demands change, design stored procedures and triggers to meet business requirements, partake in meetings to come up with ways to improve processes/performance, create custom reports from data in our CRM system’s SQL Server, updating already created SSRS reports through Report Builder and partake in meetings with CRM vendors to go over requirements and ensure a smooth migration and transition to the new CRM.

My responsibilities included learning existing tables, stored procedures, views and SSIS package for the system altering them or creating new ones as necessary, generating queries to add alerts based on user defined parameters, create test cases to validate the system, and document how to use and set up alerts in the system.
