Temp position supporting the lettuce breeding team by building trials and disease trials to ensure sowing deadlines. Help manage incoming and existing seed inventory to maintain order within the seed vault. Collaborate with various teams (i.e. pathology, operations) to guarantee various tests or trials are completed.

Collaborating with the Director of Cultivations to implement IPM Strategies throughout all stages of the plant’s life.• Ensuring spray applicators are prepared with PPE, list of pesticides, rates per gallon, REI signs, functional equipment, and an emergency bag. • Mixing chemical agents correctly according to the label application.• Monthly County Pesticide use report by gathering lists of pesticide use from each greenhouse and double checking with the main binder.• Checking inventory twice a week to ensure we had sufficient material for the month. Ordering pesticides if we were running low on any.• Disposing of empty pesticide containers to the county. Ensuring that they had been triple rinsed and had a few holes to avoid reusage of the container. • Ordering beneficial insects (i.e. ladybugs, aphidius colemani, lace wing, persimilis) to be released in areas in need of attention.• Reporting and monitoring pest and disease pressure to head growers. • Yearly pesticide training for workers and sprayers.• Scouting greenhouse for pests (i.e. TSSM, aphids, thrips, root aphids) report data onto an iPad and submit at the end of the day for the IPM manager to review.• Release beneficial insects (i.e. ladybugs, aphidius colemani, lace wing, persimilis) to areas previously scouted.• Mixing chemical agents correctly according to the label application.• Spray pesticides or drench if necessary.
