At this company I am the DBA of SQL Server Production, preproduction and development environmentsI started in a new team created to manage all SQL Server services doing tasks of standardization of installations, security, with SQL Server, Reporting Services and Analysis Services that supports business. Another task is coordinate changes for normalize environments to reduce number of errors. My management tasks of SQL Server includes backup, restore, security managements, scheduled tasks, performance, database maintenance tasks, documentation and development of T-SQL stored procedures.I manage close to 900 SQL Server instances in a global structure. These systems support about 16000 databases.I have been involved on the design of SQL Server monitoring standard to apply in all our environments.I have designed and implemented a SQL Server automatic inventory to get daily information about my team managed environments.I have designed the SQL Server related on consolidation policy and started with the first SQL Server Shared environment project; currently we have shared environments in place in all of our main datacenters which have got big savings to the company in terms of licensing, storage and servers.I was in charge of SQL Server 2000 migration project of all old infrastructures to upper versions.I am currently in the NBU project which consist on unify the backup software tool to Symantec Netbackup on all our managed environments, I am assigned as SQL Server specialist to this global project.I am the single point of contact on tasks related to SQL Server design for the Roche cloud computing new concept.

At this company I am the DBA of SQL Server Production, preproduction and development environments. I manage critical bank Geographic Clusters.I started in a new team created to manage all SQL Server services at the bank doing tasks of standardization of installations, security, with SQL Server and Analysis Services that supports our final client. Another task is coordinate changes for normalize environments to reduce number of errors. The classic management of SQL Server includes backup, restore, security managements, scheduled tasks, performance, database maintenance tasks, documentation and development of T-SQL stored procedures.I manage six Failover Clusters of SQL Server with several instances in an active-active mode. These systems supports around 400 simultaneous connections run from application servers. These systems are based on EMC Symetrix disk systems with Geospan (SRDF) replication system.
  • Olecenter
    Database Administrator
    Olecenter Sep 2000 - Nov 2005
At this company I was member of DBA team, those environments are close to 70 servers with MS SQL Server, Oracle and Elise. Most of all are of MS SQL Server including two clusters.Management of MS SQL Server includes backups, restores, security administration, monitoring, database maintenance tasks, scheduling jobs, creation of jobs, writing standard documentation in English, install SQL Server servers and generate T-SQL scripts. All this tasks are working with complex database models close to 1300 tables and an average of 70 Gbytes per database. I managed two MS SQL Server Fail Over cluster (active - passive) production environments that were installed by the DBA team. These systems usually have more than 250 connections simultaneously made from MTS Servers. So it is very important the availability of these systems. These computers works over EMC Clariion disks enclosures that was managed by DBA Team.Every night we move 1 Terabyte of database backups with one application, that was fully developed by the DBA team, that uses SQL-DMO library to send remote independent backup tasks in every MS SQL Server from a central backup server with an big array of disks. After that during morning this backup files are sent to two tape RAITs managed by ARC backup software to have fault tolerance in tape devices. This system allows to make several simultaneous backups from a server through a backup NIC over a backup network that are better than the common attached tape device system that only allows to do this sequentially one by one. This causes big savings.I developed a system to retrieve information from servers into a database that has historical information of SQL Server jobs execution, connections, events, services, hard drives capacity and other information. This system saves a lot of time in common system administration of DBA servers. To implement this I based all in DTS processes, Transact SQL scripts and SQL Server Jobs managed from a central SQL Server database.
  • Apia Xxi
    Database Administrator
    Apia Xxi Sep 1997 - Aug 2000
I was the manager of database modelling, creation, maintenance and upgrades. I developed the Human Resources application, the Accounting application and the Project Control application. These applications worked over MS SQL Server databases. So all this project was fully created by me including interface and databases design. In modelling tasks I created tables, views, indexes and stored procedures in order to have a good performance rate making trace processes with SQL Server Profiler and analysing execution plans of queries. At this time the system is working properly and there were no big changes in application and databases since I left the company.
