Fernando has a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering (UNESC) and 10 years of experience in environmental studies for mining companies. Fernando is interested in geographic information system (GIS), remote sensing, hydrology (water resources) and soil science. Currently works with project management in the development of WebGIS services.Achievements include: - Improvement of Environmental Impact Statement document (Better handling of the digital document by the team);- Development of tool to reduce uncertainty in environmental impact assessment;- Reduction of cost by adopting open source softwares; - Adoption of project management tool to improve project workflow;- Improvement of soil water infiltration tests with new methods;- As an undergraduate professor, got 8.6 by the students' assessment;- Performed trainings to trainees and junior-level professionals on field works and GIS;- Had scientific articles published in journals and national events;- Improvement of environmental data analysis using R and Python;- Acquired new skill to improve work flow in the company. Fernando has managed a field work team (4 trainees from civil engineering undergraduate course) in a environmental monitoring project and 4 environmental studies of different water basins.He also was a member of multidisciplinary teams involved in 16 ecological restoration projects in coal, fluorite mining and quarry sites; 11 environmental monitoring of restored mining fields; 7 environmental impact statements projects of sand and stone quarrys. Taught 2 undergraduate disciplines and 10 courses on GIS, ecological restoration and soil contamination; has published 7 book chapters and scientific articles; Has assessed 5 undergraduate thesis; and has created 3 online courses about GIS with QGIS and ArcGIS.Fernando was president of ACEAMB (Environmental Engineering Association of Santa Catarina) between 2021-2022. Produced the second and third issues of the Environmental Engineering Journal of Santa Catarina and 10 podcasts episodes of ACEAMB Interview.He also was a member of the team involved in development and implamentation of 15 WebGIS for private and public companies.
