About Fernando Miranda
Hello, I'm Fernando Miranda! There are several Fernandos Mirandas here on the network, but we are all unique, as Ockham's nominalism would defend.I am a nursing technician graduated from COTUCA-UNICAMP, an experience that allowed me to discover my tastes and aptitudes for the first time. At that time, even 16-year-old boys could pass catheters! After 3 years of concurrent courses with high school and two years of experience in the health care system, I decided to pursue the exact sciences, graduating in Naval Engineering from EPUSP at the end of 2018.Following the ups and downs of life, I started my professional career focused on Operational Research, aligned with topics such as logistics and optimization. I worked sometimes as a Product Manager, sometimes as a Consultant. This is where my journey in data began, with SQL, Python, and Tableau at Totvs, the biggest tech company in Brazil.During this time, I also pursued an Academic Master's degree in the naval department at USP.A few more years passed, and in this erratic path that we all tread, my life converged to iFood - Brazil's leading tech company with a 95% market share in food delivery. Now, BI and Data Science is my daily job.I focus on exploratory analyses with Python, VBA, SQL, and Dataviz, as well as Infrastructure Maintenance, mainly in the creation of APIs and management of systems like Jira, Zendesk, and HTML portals. Now, in the balance of living in the aesthetic and ethical state, I can only hope to keep passing the days learning cool things with cool people.

Business Intelligence Specialist | Sql, Python, Jira, Zendesk, Thoughtspot
In May 2024, I took another career step, assuming the role of Data Specialist in Social Impact. With a lot of support and trust from my team, I am continuously developing not only my hard skills but also my soft skills, growing as a professional and as a person. With all the new challenges, I am still gaining significant technical knowledge in areas such as data architecture, AWS, API, HTML, Java, and JavaScript.
Senior Business Intelligence Analyst | Sql, Python, Jira, Tableau
In May 2023, through an internal move, I became part of the new Social Impact team. Multiplying value through the use of data, supporting qualitative conclusions with quantitative information, and gaining autonomy and scope were significant differentiators that allowed me to help our team establish its data-driven foundations.
Senior Business Intelligence Analyst | Sql, Python, A/B Testing, Growth Sales, Tableau
How do you discover which lever to use to achieve 10x growth for a company that already holds 95% market share? While we can't simulate the individual interactions of 220 million Brazilians in a closed environment, we have no option but to solve complex challenges with thorough analysis, statistics, A/B tests, creativity, and resilience (and more A/B tests). That was the focus in 2022, when I started working at iFood, in a Growth Internal Consulting Cell.

Logistics & Supply Chain Consultant | Cost Levers, Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Sql
What is the best way to convince a potential client to buy your product? It is always about showing value greater than the cost. In my early days at Totvs, this was the challenge I faced. What improvement suggestions could a Software boutique make that would effectively impact our clients' operations? Reducing logistical costs? Improving operations with better shipping times and fewer staff for management? Systematizing previously manual processes to put the partner in a position to… Show more What is the best way to convince a potential client to buy your product? Intern | Simulation, Operational Bottlenecks, Vba, Java, Json
What I knew about simulation before the internship was an example from class:"Imagine you see a fierce dog in the distance. This dog will always run towards you, and you will always run in a straight line not aligned to the dog's direction. When you run for a period of time, the dog will need to change its direction since you are no longer at the starting point. This will continue until the dog catches up to you."As silly as it may seem, this was not a trivial problem to solve… Show more What I knew about simulation before the internship was an example from class:"Imagine you see a fierce dog in the distance. When you run for a period of time, the dog will need to change its direction since you are no longer at the starting point. This will continue until the dog catches up to you."As silly as it may seem, this was not a trivial problem to solve analytically in class. We even tried to sketch some solutions, but at least during class time, I couldn't solve it. On the other hand, calculating the position of the dog and the person second by second in Excel was much more accessible and straightforward than solving it analytically. We only needed some distances and velocities, and the magic was done! That method (and others) was what I used during my internship, but now to solve problems such as Bottleneck Discovery in Iron Ore Railways, Port Transfer Operations, Warehouse Distribution, and even Queue Simulation based on the number of users in the subway. There's nothing better than testing a complex operation in a controlled environment to better allocate resources and time. Nursing Intern | Primary Care, Maintenance Techniques, And Well-Being Improvement
Almost 15 years have gone by since a time when knowledge was plentiful and accessible, and so many things could be learned. Everything seemed possible — Math, Physics, but also Poetry, Biology, History, Geography, Philosophy. On top of that, I became a Nurse Technician. It's amazing how complex yet simple our path through life can seem as we grow older.
