Fernando Muñoz López Velarde Email and Phone Number
I have been always a creative guy, with a pencil on my hand for as long as I can remember. But back in the day, right after getting out of college, one of my best friends and I started a casket-design company. And after a year of knocking on doors, spending all of our money, and trying several approaches, we realized we didn't have the gut (nor the savvy) for the mortuary industry. So, with all my money gone, and with new responsibilities (being a new adult and all), I started working at the biggest store-equipment factory in Mexico, where I spent 3 years learning all kinds of materials and manufacturing processes, and designing from hanging racks, to shopping carts, to die cutter tools. After some time, I realized that industrial design had to be more than making products. Little I knew what I was going to design in the future. That's when I met CGBot. A starting company at the time, with only less than 10 artists trying to grab a bite of the video game industry.Fast forward 11 years, I couldn't be more proud to say that I'm part of an industry that I've really learned to love. An industry that makes the impossible possible and that doesn't feel like a job at all. In a company that has been pushing my boundaries to limits, I didn't think I was capable of. During these 11 years, I've: - Helped develop the careers of over 200+ people- Collaborated in more than 150 games total, and over 10+ AAA titles (including Overwatch '16 GotY)- Been involved in more than 200 projects- Art directed, modeled and sketched in all kinds of styles (always looking for a new one!)- Helped the company grow from a modest prop modeling outsourcer to a strong multidisciplinary monster. We proudly now make not only props but characters, vehicles, environments, animation, VFX, concept art, visual design, UI/UX, and most recently in-game implementation. Fun facts about me: I'm always in the lookout for the fastest car I can get my hands on. Used to be a high school BB player and MJ's avid follower. Oh, and yeah, I'm a Nintendo fanboy!
