I graduated in the top 5 percent of my university class and was awarded the Griffith Award for academic Excellence in 2009. After graduation I was immediately offered a position with an Australian based, international consulting firm, GHD. During my 2.5 years at GHD I worked on many projects and for 8 months I was on secondment with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in Bundaberg as a environmental officer. Terrestrial ecology studies were my focus during my professional experience at GHD. I participated in many research monitoring and survey projects during my undergraduate studies and professional career including botanical research in the Southern Alps and sea turtle monitoring and tagging research on Lady Musgrave Island in the Great Barrier Reef.In May 2012 I moved home to Kaua`i, Hawai`i. I immediately started working at the famous Tahiti Nui Bar & Restaurant where I still work and serve today.Over the last eleven years I have worked professionally as an environmental consultant and scientist both through my consulting business, Anuenue Enterprises, and Honua Consulting Firm. I have also worked on environmental advocacy and organizing around the experimental biotech testing that has been occurring in my community over the last few decades and drift of restricted use pesticides from research facilities owned by Monsanto (Bayer), Corteva (DowDuPont), Syngenta and others. As part of my community organizing and advocacy work I was responsible for the organizing of two large marches in 2013 on Kauai related to biotech testing and the passing of county bill 2491 providing buffer zones and disclosure. I worked closely on the development of the movie Poisoning Paradise. I currently work for Hawai`i Alliance for Progressive Action alongside a statewide coalition working to protect the environment and the health of our people and expand local food production and sustainable agriculture in Hawai`i. As I expand on my environmental science and community advocacy career I would like to further develop water quality and other environmental sampling and reporting skills and my marine mega-fauna survey experience to further build on my marine biology major.I aim to develop a dynamic multidisciplinary environmental science career which allows me to assist in improving the environment through actively working with ecosystem and environmental management and policy development.Specialties: • Botanical & marine sciences • Ecology, conservation & biology• Regenerative Agriculture• Photography• Social Media & Networking
