Working in a variety of languages, the Principal Desktop Publisher’s primary responsibility is to independently evaluate complex project materials and instructions, assess the most efficient and cost-effective DTP service processes to be used, and implement these processes with primarily outsourced and at times in-house resources. The position tracks overall project Profit &Loss reporting related to DTP tasks and analyzes ways to improve efficiency and margins.The Principal Desktop Publisher is forward thinking by staying abreast of trends and technologies and provides a valuable basis to discuss those trends with department leadership. Works with minimal guidance assisting linguists and the quality assurance team on queries, monitoring and mitigating project risks, and supporting project managers and other team members in the planning or update of a project and the overall cost associated with it. Creates, updates, and revises work instructions and SOPs as required.Performs root cause analysis, identifying the source of the problem and will set corrective and preventive actions, will suggest, coordinate, record and implement process improvements. Provides feedback to the vendor management team on the performance of vendors, and will contact, train, and work with vendors directly to solve any issues.Has direct communication with clients, and will initiate, schedule and kick-off meetings to discuss processes, independently supports sales on new solutions for new clients, or process improvements for ongoing clients, and supports and sustains RFP’s. The position provides coaching to other team members on different tools and workflows and participates in the creation and implementation of desktop publishing team strategies while serving as a point of escalation for issue resolution.

In addition, the MLP Specialists provides feedback to the MLP Manager, Vendor Management and the Project Manager on the efficiency and cost effectiveness of all resources. MLP Specialists work in a variety of languages and manage proficiently a plethora of of creative (e.g. Abobe Creative Cloud suite) and structured data software (e.g. Adobe FrameMaker) . At times the MLP Specialist assists in researching queries raised by linguists and QA teams during the course of the project.
