I've spent my career in energy focused on making the industry function better for consumers, by helping them take control of the risks resulting from their need for energy. Starting in 2005 at the outset of flexible energy contracts, I’ve developed trading and reporting systems, and automated market information and data services to support the very largest businesses manage their exposure to the energy markets, eventually building up a trading desk managing 12 TWh of wholesale power and gas.I’ve supported new entrants to bring competition to markets, and developed innovative retail products that facilitate market access for smaller companies. My understanding of energy policy and developments in technology, and the impacts they have on markets, have helped to bring transparency of costs and their drivers, to enable businesses to understand and optimise their consumption.I have been recognised as an influencer by Siemens, am a keynote speaker, panelist and moderator at energy and blockchain events, and am a frequent commentator in the media, including trade press, national newspapers, radio and tv.

Since joining in 2017, I have supported the evolution of Electron's strategy towards the development of digital platforms to coordinate the increasingly fragmented data and market landscape.I provide expert support to the business, supporting project delivery, and participating in market design activities for network optimisation projects in four countries, both in English and French for projects in Switzerland.These projects delivered the first secondary Capacity Market trade between separate organisations, a peer to peer marketplace for demand response in South Korea, and a local DSO market in Orkney. This last project integrates a neutral market platform with Active Network Management systems, and coordinates the local market with ESO requirements.I supported the Energy Data Task Force, and have led projects developing approaches to distributed data management, including the NIA project RecorDER, and the successful bid for the Modernising Energy Data Access competition.My role involves identifying new projects to support the product strategy. I have managed bids in competitions run by InnovateUK and BEIS, and Electron's participation in the PFER Detailed Design project RESO.I lead our business development activities and manage relations with aggregators, retailers, DNOs and ESO, government and regulators. I organised the UK's first energy blockchain hackathon which attracted 120 developers from across the energy industry.Analysing policy in areas relevant to Electron's activities, I focus on DER participation in flexibility markets, facilitating wider access to markets through platforms, and the emerging role of DSOs.A member of Ofgem's Access and Forward-Looking Charges SCR Challenge Group and the ISGAN UK National Team, I have presented at conferences around Europe hosted by the European Commission, EPRI, GOP2P and represented the UK at Mission Innovation Smart Grids conference in Rome.
