Developed state-of-the-art physiologically relevant bioengineered human tissue models for fibrotic glaucomatous disease and the inner blood retinal barrier dysfunction. Validated the disease state for both models and showcased clinical relevance by demonstrating that FDA approved glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy drugs exhibit efficacy in the models.Key Achievements  Co-founded a small biotech company (Humonix Biosciences, Inc.) and successfully implemented two bioengineered human tissue models for the development of new therapies for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy (DR) with an age-related macular degeneration (AMD) model in progress.  Developed a small molecule MELK kinase inhibitor (OTS167) for breast cancer and leukemia which is currently in phase I clinical trials in the US.
