I have been teaching both hand and machine knitting since the early 1990s. As well as offering knitting workshops in a broad range of subjects I also teach the City and Guilds 7716-15 and 7716-16 design and craft courses in Hand Knitting.I teach regularly at a number of shops and residential colleges (Dillington House, Alston Hall and the Ammerdown Centre) and on the French Treats knitting holidays in FranceAs well as teaching I work as a freelance designer and technical writer for Knitting magazine and a freelance designer for several other UK knitting magazines.I publish my own knitting patterns and in the past have worked for a number of small yarn producers providing pattern support.I have done quite a bit of work being filmed demonstrating techniques for knitters to learn from Internet video demos. Freelance Editor Of Knit1.TvAshdown Broadcasting 2009 - Apr 2011While working for Knit1.tv I was responsible for the initial planning of the website content, selecting the 'channels' and their content, contacting designers, groups and other potential demonstrators for the films.During the first year I was required to produce 12 films a month, with at least 6 films each month of me demonstrating knitting techniques. I was also responsible for booking other designers/demonstrators and ensuring their day of filming went smoothly. Before the launch of the website I also checked the films and their titles and strap-lines.During the time I worked for Knit1.tv I made approximately 150 films, the majority between 10 and 20 minutes, on knitting and related fibre techniques as well as doing interviews with designers and talking to knitting groups.
