Assistant Corporate Controller - Finance Manager
CurrentReporting to CFO/COO. Oversees a professional staff with responsibility for the Company’s accounting and finance activities. Manages the month-end closing process, preparation of financial statements and analysis of operating results. Manage the Company’s budgeting and forecasting activities including development of revenue and expense forecasting models. Perform hedge accounting, verify trades, and calculate the month end financial swap and physical purchase valuation. Manage daily cash balancing, and the preparation and monitoring of a cash requirements forecast. Approve bank presented payments for clearance, wire and ACH payments. Oversee Accounts Payable, Payroll and the preparation of multi-state Sales & Use taxes, Gross Receipt taxes, Excise taxes, Ohio Commercial Activity Tax, and Annual Report filings for multiple states. Manage insurance and payroll audits, plus New York and Ohio state tax audits. Prepare federal and state Partnership Income Tax returns (Forms 1065) and K-1s for affiliated companies. Act as the liaison to the outside public accounting firm, providing support for the year-end audits and preparation of the corporate income tax return.• Successfully assumed the Controller’s (now COO/CFO) responsibilities during their extended leave of absence.• Improved the monthly closing process and developed cash forecasting models and reports.• Reorganized the Accounting Department, saving the Company $150K annually by consolidating two positions.• Assessed payroll issues and moved to a new payroll processing company resulting in more accurate processing and enabling employees to access W-2 and payroll stub information directly. • Selected and brought in an on-line benefits system enabling employees to compare their current benefits to potential benefits they can obtain or drop during open enrollment.
