As a software engineering advisor at Santander Innovation department, I have been working on a collaborative project called DRR (Digital Regulatory Reporting) whose main goal is to automate the regulatory reporting between UK regulators and firms, achieving a more efficient and effective end-to-end process. This is a pilot where regulators (such as Financial Conduct Authority, Bank of England) alongside firms (such as Santander, Barclays, Lloyds, Nationwide, NatWest, RBS, Credit Suisse) have been experimenting with the most innovative technologies in terms of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT), API standardisation or even models driven machine executable regulatory reporting. In this respect, my main responsibilities have been:- Designing and implementing a permissionless blockchain infrastructure based on Hyperledger Fabric framework.- Designing and implementing a web solution which allows the entities to interact with each other through the blockchain network. React, Node.js, Swagger, Sequelize, PostgreSQL, Docker are some technologies met on this solution.- Designing and implementing an API to standardise and expose the data required for the regulation process.- Creating papers and documents to describe the requirements, architecture as well as conclusions or lessons deduced over the experiment process.
