Senior Backend EngineerSewerai Aug 2021 - PresentWalnut Creek, Ca, Us- Development on Electron desktop app in React used in the field for infrastructure inspection recording and sync with cloud systems.- Work in Python, Typescript and AWS systems for cloud video infrastructure to support AI systems.- Developed system for adding overlay, audion and subtitle annotations to inspection videos using extensible templating and formatting system. The system uses a JSON template to pause the inspection video and overlays inspection, distance and observation information and can be used in real-time in the browser or as part of a backend transcode operation using ffmpeg bindings. The system also uses the same extensible formatting engine and a text-to-speech service to generate speech audio which can also be inserted into the video. System also exports time mapping so that other export options like PDF or NASSCO inspection databases can be created with the correct timestamps for the video with audio insertions.- Reversed engineered and implemented several protocols for Sewage Inspection Trucks and implemented simulators and communication plugins for Electron application to communicate with them.- Implemented UI automation to automatically transcode GoPro proprietary video formats using their software.- Created process for matching and importing multiple terabytes of Access inspection databases and the corresponding video files and handling various match failure cases, and used this to import several large traunches of legacy customer data.- Participated in a large number of customer support zooms and calls supporting on-truck application. -
Freelance EngineerFreelance Jun 2012 - Present- Porting QT/Javascript/JQuery application utilizing native USB integrations to Electron and node-usb. Javascript modernization, refactoring and code cleanup.- Implemented Expokit/React-native BluetoothLE beacon scanner for iOS and Android (pending)- Implemented ~3500 LED art installation, using 4 Raspberry Pis, and an Arduino Mega.
