Project CoordinatorOiltanking Jul 2014 - Nov 2017Rio De Janeiro, BrazilMain Responsibilities -Mergers & Acquisitions-Negotiate with customers and partners’ new business ventures-Manage new projects (Engineering, Operations, CAPEX and OPEX)-Market Researches (trends of the Brazilian market by region / state / city);-Engineering, projects and studies for new and current terminals-To Participate of Start-up new terminalsHighlightsPort of Açu Crude Oil Terminal – During my period in Oiltanking Brazil I’ve been part of business development/engineering team where we purchased 20% of Port of Acu Crude Oil Terminal stake. This process began in early 2015 with a M.O.U signature, then we’ve modeled and valuated the business, negotiated the JV terms, produced the joint venture agreement, finished the construction, commissioned the terminal and began to operate it. It was such a rich period where I could be part of a small team doing a big joint venture, at the time valuated at 1 billion dollars. If only the challenges were over at this point. After the acquisition our role was to operate so we had to: wright emergency, response plans, manuals, procedures, to hire and train all new employees, to contract all third parties that was part of our ecosystem. I was a huge challenge that allowed me to be part of a project from the economics to the commissioning, from the strategic level to the upmost operational detail. -
Project CoordinatorPlanave S/A Apr 2011 - Jun 2014Rio De Janeiro, BrazilOne of the most traditional and prestigious Engineering Companies in Brazil with large experience at portuary industry.Main Responsibilities -Integration of Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Teams-Supply Chain / Portuary Logistics projects development;-Technical and Economical Evaluation on new and existing assets-Simulation models (most of simulation models started with process mapping to better asses all the interfaces, times, sequences and then to produce the simulation model)-Market StudiesHighlightsPlanave is the main engineering company dedicated to ports and terminals in Brazil. During this time I was able to coordinate teams in projects that covered almost every type of cargo handled in Brazil: Dry Bulk, Liquid Bulk, Container yards, Cellulose, Refrigerated goods and even live stock. In parallel to the coordination activities I was the person behind simulations at the time, as I was fresh out of my master degree in Artificial Intelligence. My most successful project during this period was to a major cellulose producer up north in Brazil. They need a contingency plan for the delays they were experiencing in their main terminal construction site. I’ve designed the contingency operation and the warehouse, including some non-standard solution such as a temporary warehouse with a positive pressure environment to prevent cellulose degradation due dust. This warehouse still operating, which proves that not only they needed such solution, but also that the contingency plan was good enough to be the main operation. -
Researcher / ConsultantGpi - Grupo De Produção Integrada - Coppe/Ufrj Jul 2009 - Apr 2011Rio De Janeiro, BrazilIntegrated Production Group (free translation) is a research center at UFRJ that offers consultancy services and research projects. Their main clients are Petrobras, Transpetro, ONS (Brazilian National Electrical System Operator) and many other companies, both private and government. Their research lies on Process Engineering, Operations Management, Innovation and Technology Management, Public Management and Knowledge Management.Main ResponsibilitiesTo redesign the operational model at the North-Northeast-Southeast business unit (Transpetro)To create a new normative System to National Electrical System Operator (ONS)To develop a new Organizational Structure development to Transpetro Natural Gas based on the physical and management challenges Transpetro presented at the time.HighlightsThe main objective of GPI is to apply BPM as a tool for diagnose of any sort of issues a corporation may experience. I’ve been applying this philosophy during my entire career because it’s a systematic approach that puts the whole organization under a microscope. The main highlight during my GPI time was the Transpetro Natural Gas project. At the time we’ve mapped Petrobras Natural (ARIS) Gas Value Chain down to activities level in order to rearrange the processes (redesigned) into the new organizational structure. As Brazil is a vast country Petrobras Gas faced different challenges in different regions, leading to an unbalanced workload in the regional business units. In order to solve that I’ve created a methodology where I could relate the business processes and main issues faced to a “complexity score” and then my algorithm would allow me to rearrange the physical limits within each regional business unit to new forms with a different complexity score. By changing the limits I could balance everything to have more or less the same “complexity score” maintaining the integrity or their work.

Project Analyst (Innovation And Technology)Wilson Sons Oct 2007 - Mar 2009Rio De Janeiro, BrazilWilson, Sons Group´s logistics operator. Wilson, Sons is active since 1837, the second most old company in Brazil. Wilson, Sons group provides Maritime Agency, Tug Boats, Offshore services, shipyards and logistic services.Main Responsibilities -Project Leader at Supply Chain Execution (SCE) Project-SCE Vendor selection-SCE implementation -Project Controlling (Including SCE);-Operations processes redesign to support the SCE;HighlightsBack in 2007 Wilson, Sons Logistics developed all of its software needs in house, that includes their own warehouse management system (WMS) to manage 3rd party warehouses and all of its logistics operations. As the company grew the scalability of home brew software became a problem. For that the management decided to buy a “of the shelf” solution (SAP/ORACLE/Red Prairie/Manhattan Associates) that could integrate warehousing, transportation, routing etc.). The final vender was selected, and we started the project by mapping the current processes, proceeding to redesigning it and finally implementing the final product. I was a very young professional at the time and the Project Leader position allowed me to learn from project valuation, vendor selection, managing the board expectation vs. the reality inside the warehouses and mainly as an industrial engineer the opportunity to redesign and improve how every operation was being done is a dream come true. But the reality is not a dream and I had to redesign and improve without harming the local culture and taking in account that the human factor is the most important in any organization. -

InternShell Apr 2005 - Dec 2006Rio De Janeiro, BrazilMain Responsibilities 2005 – HSSE Latin America-To keep in track all HSSE KPIs, payments and routines.2006 – Strategy and Portfolio-To develop reports to support Shell Brazil Board decision making-Develop Competitive Intelligence routines and reports to Shell Aviation-To support Shell’s Competitive IntelligenceHighlightsWhen I was at Strategy and Portfolio I had the opportunity to develop an intelligence data gathering system (automated, third party) and a semi-automated intelligence report to Shell Aviation. It was my first contact with Data/Text mining associated to business intelligence. These two thing became such a passion that I‘ve enrolled to an Artificial Intelligence Master degree a few years later. At the time the Strategy and Portfolio team as very small and my manager delegated the whole project to me. By mid-2006 the system was in place and Shell Aviation was using it full time. I left shell by the end of the year, but in 2010 during my thesis, I’ve reached Shell Aviation to use their database in my study case and the system was operational and they were using it in a daily basis. That made me really happy because in a very dynamic business environment tech tools have an expiration date, but the system was flexible enough to stand the proof of time.
