I am a service designer and mix methods researcher with experiences spanning both industry and research landscapes, in sectors such as Energy, Banking and Transportation. With a solid multidisciplinary academic foundation, including a Ph.D. focused on service design (Politecnico di Milano), a Masters in Innovation Economics and Management (Faculty of Economics of Porto University), and a Masters in Industrial Design (Faculty of Engineering of Porto University), I possess the expertise to effectively communicate, engage, and collaborate with stakeholders across diverse fields (e.g., engineering, management, design) and organizational levels to deliver impactful solutions and transform in the ways of doing things in organizations. In the past years I have been supporting organizations in successfully developing complex, interdisciplinary, international initiatives that predominantly led to data-intensive solutions. Those include revamping a design and IT architecture for a bank (working at DEUS for the client: ABN AMRO), and improving an ecosystem of commercial decision-making applications for one energy business (working at DEUS for the client: Shell). Furthermore, I was involved in an innovative RDI project on high-end smart mobility solutions (U.Minho & Bosch). The different initiatives in which I was involved allowed me to gain expertise in planning, coordinating, and executing generative and evaluative research activities, from initial discovery to post-service launch stages, and initiating service design initiatives across silos. Moreover, I had the opportunity to be involved in the systematization of research and design capabilities into the broader organizational life.I have also been committed to nurturing the next generation of designers and giving back to my community. Since 2021, I have served as a part-time invited assistant professor at the University of Minho, overseeing a semester-wide course focus on Service Design for Master's students. Furthermore, I have been providing mentorship to young researchers at the university and to industry interns. You can reach me at ux.filipe.lima@gmail.com
