I am a cultural heritage, dance, and performance scholar and professor of World Arts. I got my Ph.D. in culture and performance from the Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance at UCLA where I worked as a Teaching Fellow, and my M.A. in dance knowledge, practice, and heritage through the Choreomundus program, offered by a consortium of four European universities.I am the recipient of several prestigious scholarships and awards including the Moss Scholars Award (UCLA), The Tambruritzans Grant in Aid (Duquesne University), and a scholarship from the European Commission (NTNU). My research revolves around topics such as dance, ICH, identity, and politics and I am the author of several peer-reviewed articles, published in journals such as The Journal of Folklore Research, The Routledge Handbook of Heritage and Politics, The Dance Research Journal etc.I have worked as an intern at the Living Heritage Entity at UNESCO and the Macedonian Embassy in London, while I have also taken part in numerous workshops and capacity-building training offered by various European organizations including Europa Nostra, Erasmus Plus, and The European Commission. I am the president of Vulgus- a Skopje-based NGO for the research, safeguarding, and promotion of cultural heritage. I have also worked as a director of eight theatrical productions in Macedonia, Norway, and The United States and as a soloist dancer at The Duquesne University Tamburitzans in Pittsburgh, PA. I choreographed several pieces in Macedonia, Hungary, The United Kingdom, and The United States and held numerous dance workshops on Balkan dance heritage. My works with photography and film include “vita.” (premiered in Skopje) which explored the objectification of women and a dance movie “vitro.” which explores the liveliness of movement.
