At the IDB, I provided tailored support to both private and public sector windows of the IDB Group to maximize access to major providers of climate finance, particularly the Green Climate Fund (GCF). I worked closely with IDB investment officers to assess private sector demand for climate finance, source clients, originate and structure deals, negotiate terms and conditions and present the transactions to the IDB and the GCF’s Boards for final approval.My responsibilities included: - Leading the preparation of IDB Group funding proposals for the Green Climate Fund (GCF).- Identifying private sector clients and partners for the executing of private sector components of IDB and GCF projects. - Assessing and prioritizing climate finance concepts presented by LAC Governments and private sector partners.- Mainstreaming climate finance within the IDB Group, providing technical support to Investment Officers on how to effectively access sources of climate finance (GCF, CIFs, GEF, etc).- Developing and delivering technical assistance readiness and capacity building packages for LAC Governments on how to access funding from GCF and other main sources of climate finance.- Providing technical advice on the preparation of country-level climate investment plans, such as the Forest Investment Program (FIP) in Guatemala and Ecuador.- Providing technical advice on climate policy issues, such as the future structure/scope of the Climate Investment Funds (CIFs).

As Climate Change Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank's Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), I am in charge of sourcing and designing innovative private sector projects and operations in the field of clean energy, energy efficiency, carbon finance, climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural capital. Examples of projects I am leading include:- Guyana: Technical Assistance Team Leader for the US$29+ million rural electrification / energy access project co-financed by the GEF, the Government of Guyana and the IDB Group.- Colombia: Team Leader for a US$30+million energy efficiency investment program, including technical assistance package and an equity investment, co-financed by the IDB and the Clean Tech. Fund (CTF).- Chile: Team Leader for an energy efficiency and renewable energy in the fruit sector in northern Chile.- Argentina/Uruguay: market-readiness study for micro-to-small wind generation systems.- Mexico: CDM PoA (energy and water efficiency) in the residential sector in Mexico City.- Honduras: energy access (light and small scale agro-processing) with solar pay-as-you-go technology in the underserved Atlantic coast region.- Mexico: Wetlands and mangrove reforestation in pilot sites in Chiapas.- Bolivia: Support for the development of a climate-compatible Payment for Watershed Services (PWS) system in the Chaco region.Non project-specific activities include analytic/research work on new areas of interest for the Climate and Environment Team at the MIF, such as climate adaptation and wetlands conservation/restoration (blue carbon). In addition, I collaborate in the design and dissemination of the Climatescope, a major report, index and on-line tool released yearly by the MIF and Bloomberg New Energy Finance to assess the investment climate for climate investments in Latin America.
