Lead - Climate Change Mitigation
Current• Leading the GEF climate mitigation team (5-6 full time staff), mentoring new team members and defining workplan priorities.• Coordinating the climate mitigation portfolio, supervising the project review process, assisting PMs with problem solving, leading work on complex programs, keeping track of resources and providing portfolio information to management.• Providing all-round assistance to the GEF CEO and leadership team on all issues related to climate mitigation and energy.• Designed the GEF climate and energy investment strategy for the GEF8 period (2022-2026), leading the expert working groups consultations to define the priorities for GEF investments and drafted the climate focal area strategy for energy, transport, rural electrification and nature-based solutions (~$800 million). supported management with donors engagement and negotiations.• Designed and pitched to donors the GEF8 Net Zero, Nature-Positive Accelerator Program (~$130 mln), GEF’s key channel to support countries adopting Paris-aligned, long term decarbonization strategies which are also fully aligned with the new Global Biodiversity Framework.• Represented the GEF at UNFCCC negotiation sessions, including COPs and intersessional sessions from COP24 onwards, conducting briefing with Parties to outline and defend the GEF's work, preparing briefings for the CEOs and senior leadership team on key GEF issues, including transparency under the Paris Agreement, finance, technology transfer and capacity building.• On engagement with partners: collaborated with and acted as the GEF point person for external partners and GEF Agencies on energy issues; acted as steering committee member for the GEF-GCF collaboration platform; contributed to GEF engagement with other climate funds on methodological issues and programming synergies.• Represented the GEF as speaker at events related to climate mitigation, including energy, transport and clean technologies such as green hydrogen, e-mobility, etc.
