In my day job, I direct strategic growth for edyn (www.findingedyn.com) largely through the acquisition of pan European hotel, aparthotel and serviced apartment developments.The biggest challenge we face in developing a pioneering hospitality concept is that we often straddle different planning law, permitting, use class, tax, legal and financial regulations across many different jurisdictions.In 2013, noticing a gap in the market for a lifestyle aparthotel concept, I co-founded and launched Europe’s first design led serviced apartment concept Urban Villa. A background in real estate, I've been in the hospitality development since 2007 when I joined Staycity.com as Acquisitions Director to help Tom Walsh create and launch a scalable aparthotel concept, borne out of the initial success running residential units as serviced apartments; Staycity aparthotels was borne; a commercial scalable real estate model.In 2016 along with my 3 business partners, I joined Oaktree Capital to reposition their serviced apartment portfolio. Evolving our learnings from Urban Villa we created and launched Locke; a design led aparthotel concept. Oaktree also acquired SACO a serviced apartment operating platform merging us together to create the edyn platform, a fully integrated extended stay (serviced apartments & aparthotels) development and operational platform.Acquired by Brookfield in 2018, we have since been working together to establish edyn as the leading pan European extended stay platform business through our Locke and Cove brands.In 2020, borne largely out of frustration as to the type of hotel we wanted to escape to at the weekend, we partnered with Aprirose Real Estate Investment to create and launch Birch www.birchcommunity.comMy aim and passion is to redefine hospitality by challenging and pushing the boundaries.Outside of work, I’m an ocean lover; sailing, surfing and spending time on the water with my 3 beautiful children.
