    As a part of the Bank of America Student Leader Program, I interned at Communities in Schools of Central Texas. Communities in Schools is a nonprofit that provides an array of services to help all kids graduate from high school. I worked with their ASPIRE program, a dual-generation English Language Learning program that exposes kids to academic activities while their parents are receiving GED, ESL and parenting instruction. I wrote a curriculum that would allow refugee and asylum students to practice English as they shared about their home countries. Secondarily, I worked as an intern at the Communities in Schools of Central Texas Central Office, working alongside their volunteer coordinator, program officer and HR department to learn about and participate in the inner workings of the nonprofit. I was involved in improving their volunteer training, matching local businesses to schools for financial assistance, and doing data entry to track CIS students through college and into their careers.
