As the architect behind the Financial Academy program at North Point Schools, I have created a holistic financial education program for K-12 students of all academic abilities. I use a comprehensive, classroom-tested curriculum that meets the highest standards for personal financial education from elementary through high school levels.My curriculum encompasses diverse aspects of finance, including personal finance, economics, investing, and entrepreneurship. I use adaptive educational technologies extensively to accommodate various learning capabilities. My teaching pedagogy inspires students to make life-long, financially responsible decisions. My high school syllabus prepares students for the complexities of the contemporary financial environment by encompassing behavioural finance, investing, financial technologies, cryptocurrency, and the gig economy.To augment the theoretical aspects of financial education, I have integrated four experiential activities into the curriculum. These activities, conducted throughout the academic year, provide hands-on learning opportunities to enhance the financial acumen of our students. The Stock Market and Cryptocurrency Investment Challenge is an immersive activity involving more than 130 grades 4-12 students, designed to introduce real-world investing. The Startup Pitch Competition is a platform for students to present innovative business concepts to a panel of expert judges, fostering entrepreneurial thinking. The Financial Meme Contest stimulates creative, humorous expressions of financial ideas to promote engagement and learning. The Young Entrepreneurs Annual Business Fair is our showcase event and Canada's largest student business fair. Every student from K-12 creates a product or service, prepares a formal business plan, develops their brand, and builds a marketing strategy. On Fair day, students launch their small businesses, drawing in hundreds of customers and generating thousands of dollars in sales revenue.
