After ten years of private legal practice, I moved to Richmond, Virginia in October, 2021, to begin a new phase of my legal career with Kinsale Insurance Company, taking on the role of Claims Counsel. The experience that I gained over more than a decade of federal and state court litigation will serve me well, and as someone who has always gravitated to problem solving and advocacy, I know I can bring these skills to bear in my new role.Prior to moving to Richmond, I was a successful successful civil litigator for over a decade, most recently as a Shareholder with Maynard, Cooper & Gale. I handled federal and state litigation for an array of clients, including financial institutions, large corporations, local business, municipalities, educational and religious institutions. Clients often came to me after being dealt a “messy hand.” I was always willing to dive deeply to learn all aspects of the issue and build relationships and trust among the varied constituents. Using advocacy and presentation skills honed over my career, I willingly stepped up to fight for my client if and as needed. I was often able to craft creative but practical solutions that achieved closure for my clients, as well as results that often satisfy all parties. Before moving to Richmond, Virginia, I spent the eleven years of my legal career since 2010 in Mobile, Alabama and built deep connections with my community there. Since 2013, I have been a Board Member of the Mobile Opera, one of the oldest performing arts organizations in the U.S., as well as other groups. I now appreciate the complex history of communities. I hope to do the same here in Richmond as I settle into my new community. I have also studied extensively in Mexico and Chile and maintain Spanish fluency.
