Managing business supporters and participants for the 2017 Clean Up Australia Campaign

Independent fieldwork conducted in Bolivia based on my MSc Anthropology, Environment and Development dissertation proposal around the Bolivian government's groundbreaking new environmental protection laws: the 'Laws of Mother Earth'. I travelled throughout the country interviewing individuals from the Bolivian environmental sector, including the governmental, non-governmental and academic/scientific sectors. The data collected provided the basis of my final thesis, which focussed on the practical application of the 'Laws of Mother Earth' and the ontological conflicts at the heart of the subject.

Working alongside the web development team and the GSMA M4D Impact team to test, copy edit, migrate data/content and create media for the new GSMA M4D Impact web portal. Primary platforms: Jeera (testing, bug-logging) and Confluence (build, media upload & management).‪This was a temporary part-time role I took on alongside my postgraduate studies.

The programme on which I worked is a donor-funded top-level open source intelligence programme that tracks over 1,800 mobile-enabled development projects worldwide. Working on this programme showcased the exciting potential for technological solutions to development agenda whilst affording an excellent top level perspective of the wide range of sub-sectors within international development. I assisted in establishing partnerships with international development projects for a competitive grant opportunity with a budget of roughly $500,000 USD. I personally managed the application process and assisted in assessing applicants' suitability for the grant opportunity. I conducted research analysis for an industry intelligence report - co-authored by Ken Banks, co-founder of FrontlineSMS - on the value of mobile data analytics to help to overcome barriers to scale within the Mobile for Development (M4D) sector. I undertook telephone interviews with prominent figures within the M4D sector for case studies published on the programme website. I also conducted survey design and distribution management, email campaigns including performance analytics, data entry and a number of other minor admin tasks.

Telephone fundraiser for an award-winning fundraising organisation working on behalf of many well known charities from wide range of sectors. I worked primarily on campaigns for cancer charities such as Cancer Research UK, Macmillan and Marie Curie Cancer Care as I have a personal interest in this work. I also particularly enjoyed working on campaigns for charities involved in international aid and development projects that reflect my academic and professional interests. The flexibility of this role was invaluable alongside my part-time postgraduate studies. It was interesting to gain insights into this part of the charity-sector's fundraising practices.

GSMA Mobile for Development Intelligence (MDI) educates and unites those who want to harness the power of mobile for good.Leveraging mobile telecommunications as the most ubiquitous information technology in the world to bring access to information and services to under-served individuals and communities in the developing world.In my role as an intern within MDI I contributed towards research documents, secured a Google AdWords-for-non-profits campaign, generated workplans for media outputs and organised stakeholder conference events.
