    My role as a ski patroller is an incredibly dynamic one with many challenges and changes to take on every day to ensure we can maintain a high level of safety.• Assess and mitigate conditions, hazards and risks to open a safe ski field• Respond to, treat and transport medical, avalanche and rescue incidents• Have a high level of skiing ability in all conditions and terrain• Use ice axe and crampons along with other alpine equipment to travel safely• Maintain a high level of training competency in all areas of my role• Complete Avalanche control work using explosives to open the ski area• Erect signage and prepare and install safety systems• Maintain plant protection systems• Train staff in working at height and rescue techniques• Train staff in and develop cableway rescue systems• Use rope access techniques to work on roof’s, buildings and towers• Train staff in and develop alpine technical rescue systems• Developing a more permanent and hands-off approach to hazard mitigation systems• Communicate effectively between departments and with appropriate managers• Provide rescue and safety support for de-icing teams• Provide assistance to the HSE department regarding close calls and notifiable events• Drive snowmobiles safely• Help any department with their needs whenever possible• Assist LandSAR and the Police with search and rescue jobsI work within the deicing team to ensure the lifts are clear of ice during storms.
