Working across two fixed sites and sometimes covering a third, I was required to have a comprehensive understanding of how the business operated and how to achieve similar goals in varying contexts, as well as be responsible for multiple teams simultaneously. This helped my interpersonal skills and ability to manage individuals with unique situations.On top of day to day operations I had an administrative presence in the management team. Making rotas, forecasting analysis and licensing paperwork were a small part of my role. During this job I had chance to apply some techniques and theories I had studied at university in real-world context which I found very interesting and wish to continue in a more relevant setting.

This role was a big step up for me in terms of organisational structure, with more specific and demanding targets pushing me to take more interest in analysis and logistics.Working in a predominanty Thai and Asian culture with different values to other organisations I had worked in before was a challenge and a treat. I had to change my approach to many situations in order to fit a new brief and be a more efficient team member. However, adapting helped me fit into my work community and taught me new professional values.

Being part of the Covid-19 MTU hugely progressed my teamwork skills among others. This job included building a temporary testing site and operating in one of a number of roles through the day before collapsing the site, all the while with the strict hygiene guidelines to keep in mind at all times. Extra pressures overcome during this job came from the confidentiality and controversial nature of the sites which attracted the media and other parties, making our high standards and image management all the more crucial.

When I was made Bar Supervisor I had to take on new responsibilities such as stock and team management, on top of cash handling. The challenge of having to work to prove I was worthy of the responsibility naturally came with being one of the youngest members of the team, and it was welcomed. Working closely with the managers gave me insight into how financial targets are approached, and extra shifts at different branches gave me an opportunity to suggest some of their successful strategies to use in our own outlet.

It gave me a good chance to work with Spanish speakers from different countries and backgrounds in a relaxed work culture which I greatly enjoyed.
