I’ve worked for the same company for over a decade, it has just changed names several times: Twist Image became Mirum Agency in 2015, Mirum became Wunderman Thompson in 2020, and WT became VML in 2024. In my current role I oversee all the design work for our digital clients including: Dairy Farmers of Canada, Danone, Activia, RedBull, KAO (Biore, Jergens).

I led a large team of designers through a redesign of most of TD’s website content: Credit Cards, Personal Lending, Mortgages, Saving & Investing. I developed loads of video content: quirky animations to explain their new mobile app features.

(Formerly Twist Image)On my very first day I started designing TD Canada Trust’s back-to-school digital program, Pump It Up, which would run for 5 consecutive years and win several awards. With this initial success and my penchant for personal finance, I was fully immersed in the TD account and became the agency’s (and often the client’s) subject matter.

My stint at Tribal DDB was both brief and beverage-focused. I helped pitch a dark augmented reality story for Guinness; a large-scale outdoor AR experience for Lipton Tea; an off-the-wall spokes-unicorn for Lipton Brisk Iced Tea; and forged a partnership between Crown Royal and the NHL. And for solid foods, I built a microsite for Knorr Sidekicks’ loveable.

Once upon a time Bell Canada had two spokes-beavers named Frank & Gordon; these guys were the focus of my days at Fjord. I designed dozens of digital campaigns (display banners and emails) and created myriad scenarios, outfits, and witty dialogue for the Bell beavers. Upon their eventual retirement I moved to our General Motors account to be a key designer.

As AOL pivoted from an exclusive content provider for its subscribers to an open digital publisher, my own role became increasingly more digital. This also coincided with the renaissance of the banner ad. I designed and developed dozens of Flash banner campaigns for AOL products, including pioneering the use of integrated XML feeds for AOL Radio banners.
