Responsible for all Snus pouch (smokeless tobacco) laboratory testing.• Ensuring all laboratory equipment is regularly serviced, calibrated and maintained.• Training and validation of personnel in equipment operation.• Operation of different material test methods; Including Whiteness, Opacity, Softness, Friction, Bending stiffness, Absorption, Tensile strength and Seal strength.• Assisting in the running of factory trials at the Snus manufacturing facility in Sweden. Liaison between external suppliers and colleagues for best planning and trial execution. Shelf life stability studies followed to determine any significant difference to the control.• Performing in house pilot plant trials to test the acceptable product moisture tolerance levels. • Developed and implemented a new tobacco staining analysis method using the DigiEye imaging system. This introduced quantitative metrics which proved decisive in choosing the best from the next generation of SNUS products. This resulted in providing ‘security of supply’ by qualifying an alternative supplier. • IMI (Incoming Material Inspection) method ownership was handed over to Quality Assurance in Sweden. On-site equipment training and support provided.
