My role is to drive for a nuclear centre of excellence and innovation at the Derby Infinity Park site to enable RR business growth plans and support investment in local area in collaboration with partner stakeholders.

Manage a department of 30 engineers responsible for the design, safety and in-service support of the UK’s nuclear submarine reactor mechanical components

Conducted research, development and testing on metal alloys to support the design, manufacture and through-life performance of the UK’s nuclear submarine reactors

Managed a team of 8 senior and junior engineers to: deliver the system level functional and non-functional design of the UK’s next generation nuclear submarine reactor control and instrumentation system to meet plant and platform requirements; to integrate sub-system designs with sub-tier suppliers.

Selected to provide high-level technical and operational support to the Roll-Royce Submarines President and Executive team, gaining exposure to broad commercial and strategic factors affecting the business. Coordinated monthly operational business metrics reporting. Prepared briefs and board reports. Coordinated Executive meetings.

Designed and led a novel empirical test programme to justify an in-service low count rate neutron measurement sensor system for continued operation in the UK’s nuclear submarines. Technical and project lead to resolve knowledge gaps on an in-service control rod position measurement sensor. Conducted radio frequency interference commissioning trials on the nucleonic sensor systems of multiple submarines at two dockyard sites.

Completed 6 three month training attachments in a variety of engineering roles in the Rolls-Royce Submarines, Civil Nuclear and Aerospace businesses.
